Dr. Leo Yason

Leo trained as a resident in general psychiatry at the Harvard Residency Program in Boston, Mass. Afterwards, he practiced privately from 1991-2015 in Hernando County, Florida, wherein he also served as Medical Director of SpringBrook Hospital until retirement in 2023. Currently, he is the medical director for Learning to Achieve Wellness, which is a group of 8 psychiatric nurse practitioners and several mental health therapists. Aside from my position as the president of Friends Who Care LLC, I'm also part of the core group of GK Tampa Bay. Leo’s interests include tennis, bowling, ballroom dancing, and following and supporting the Tampa Bay professional sports teams such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rays and Lightning. He loves traveling all over the world and just enjoying retirement with wife Susan.

Dr. Alberto Vasquez

Joebert is actively practicing adult neurology with a group, Central Neurology, in St. . Petersberg, Florida. He is also the president and primary investigator of Suncoast Neuroscience Associates, also in St. Petersberg, Florida. Joebert’s interests range from traveling, walking, biking, learning golf, and listening to jazz music and bossa nova. He currently serves as FWCLLC Vice President.

Dr. Carolina Remorca

Debbie is a retired board-certified pediatrician who was in private practice for 33 years in Toms River, New Jersey. One of the 4 founders of FWCLLC back in 2017, during which, as class president of the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine & Surgery Class 1980/USA, she initiated the application and eventual approval for its 501(c)3 status. Switching from pediatrics to geriatrics in 2021, she and her husband Sylvester own and operate East Lake Manor, Inc., a 30-bed assisted living facility in a tranquil woodland setting in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Both remain active, balancing work with fun time and playing with their two lovable grandsons. She has held the position of Secretary of FWCLLC since its inception.

Dr. Maria Corazon Fernando

Fondly called “Chona” by friends and family, she is one of the founders of Friends Who Care LLC and is currently serving as its treasurer. She is a board-certified psychiatrist who has been in private practice in Lancaster PA since 1995. Prior to this, she was Director of Women’s Services at Philhaven, a private psychiatric facility in Mount Gretna, PA. Dr. Fernando completed her psychiatric residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center and graduated cum laude from the University of Santo Tomás, Manila, Philippines, in 1980. Her hobbies include travel, hiking, growing orchids, and scuba diving. She is a devoted Kitty Mama.

Dr. Blesila Vasquez

Bles retired as Chief of Service, PM&R at the C.W. Bill Young Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation at Bay Pines, Florida. She currently serves as Assistant Secretary of FWCLLC. Bles’ interests include traveling, listening to classical music, hiking, walking, biking and gardening.

Dr. Manuel de la Cruz

Chuchi recently retired from his Pediatrics private practice of 33 and a half years in Tracy, California. He devoted and delivered care to children this city and surrounding areas, at the same time he was a member of the staff the Maternal and Child Health department of the local hospital and even served as Department Chief. Notably, Chuchi was consistently voted “Best Pediatrician/Physician” of Tracy. Retirement brings him freedom to travel with his wife and daughter, At home he enjoys singing along with karaoke and simply listening to favorite music. Once or twice a year, he returns to the Philippines and joins medical missions organized by different groups. Chuchi is the current Public Relations Officer of FWCLLC.

Dr. Joselito Reyes

Lito practiced Neonatologiy from 1992 - 2017 atMt. Sinai Hospital & Medical Center, Chicago. In 2017, he shifted into General Pediatrics private practice, J C Reyes Pediatrics SC, inChicago till the present. His hospital affiliations include MacNeal Hospital, Illinois and Loyola University Medical Center, Illinois.He is a member of the University of Santo Tomas Medical Alumni Association of America, a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics, and a fellow of the American Academy of PediatricsHis prime interests are travel and word puzzles.

Dr. Samuel Sarmiento

Sam specialized in Family Medicine and retired after 30 years in Turnersville, New Jersey. He sat in the Board of Directors at Camden County Health Services (2003-2010) and is President of the University of Santo Tomas Medical Association, Tri-State (2020-present). He is one of the 4 founders of FWCLLC and served as its first President from 2018-2022.

Dr. Victor Bacani

After completing his internal medicine residency at Atlanticare Medical Center, Eggharbor Township, New Jersey , Vic pursued a fellowship in cardiology at St. Joseph Hospital. He has been in solo private practice since 1991 in Toms River, New Jersey. Currently he is affiliated with Deborah Specialty Physicians, a multi-physician single specialty cardiology practice. He is one of the 4 founders of FWCLLC and served as Vice President from 2018-2022.

Dr. Maria Moneta Benito de Castro

Monette is the widow of the late Dr Constante Charles de Castro, the mother of 3 sons Alan, Tony & Alex, and a grandmother to Eleanor & Charlie. Her academic achievements include graduating as valedictorian both in elementary and in high school at Institution Teresiana, now St. Padre Poveda Learning Centre.In 1976, she graduated Cum Laude in BS General, University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines and went on to medical school, then a residency in Pediatrics at Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, West VA. She was in private practice in Fort Worth, TX, till her retirement in August 2021.Her activities include: President/Founder of CCdCMF, C. Charles de Castro Memorial Foundation since its inception 2010. Dame of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre, Southwestern Lieutenancy since 2010Supporter of the Franciscan Foundation of the Holy Land since 2012-Member of the FW Serra Club-Associate of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in Grand Prairie, Tx-Facilitator of the Bereavement Ministry, Holy Family Catholic Church, Forth Worth, TX-Parishioner of Holv Familiv Catholic Church, Fort Worth, TX and St. Peter Catholic Church, White Settlement, TXHer interests include: travel, going on pilgrimages, listening to classical music, and making flower arrangements.

Dr. Ferdinand Ramos

A family man and a retired anesthesiologist, religious and civic-minded leader who, in the same token, is a good listener, team player and follower. He advocates for service, education and charity. Ferdie’s belief is: “Real happiness stems from making others happy.” Notable awards include the Model Family Award, Chicago Hall of Fame by the Filipino Asian American Association in 2019, and the Plaque of Recognition for Exemplary Leadership as President of the University of Santo Tomas Medical Alumni Association America (USTMAAA) Foundation in 2022-His Leadership award, USTMAAA in 2023, stated,You struck gold as you inspired our Alumni to support the medical mission back at UST Charity Hospital. It will deliver the desired experience for the medical students, interns, residents and fellows within the UST campus.”

Dr. Daniel Umali

Danny is a retired pediatrician from Little Flower Children’s Services in Jamaica Estates, Reno Park, New York. He also served as the President of the Philippine Physicians of NY, and is the Medical Director of Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.

Len graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1966. He is a retired radiologist. Terry graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, in 1963. She is a retired pediatrician. Len’s interests include travel and golf, and while Terry shares the same passions, she finds time for tennis.Both serve on the Board of Directors of the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. of Tampa , Florida and as advisers for FWCLLC.
